Scoot, a low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, signed a letter of intent with Azorra, an aircraft leasing company based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to acquire 9 Embraer E190-E2 Jets.

The Embraer E190-E2 is a type of medium-range jet that is part of the Embraer E2 family. The Embraer E2 Family consists of the E175-E2, the E190-E2 and the E195-E2. There are various airlines around the world that currently operate the E190-E2 and E195-E2, while the entry of the E175-E2 has been postponed until 2027. Compared to the original Embraer E-Jet Family, the E2 Family features new engines offering better fuel efficiency and new wings designed to fit each type of aircraft to maximize efficiency.

Scoot is a low-cost subsidiary created by Singapore Airlines in 2011, and started operations in 2012. Scoot operates long-haul and short-haul routes to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Destinations operated by Scoot include Sydney, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Macau, Berlin and Taipei. Scoot is part of the Value Alliance which is an airline alliance that consists of various Low-Cost Carriers in the region. Other members of Value Alliance include Cebu Pacific, Nok Air and Jeju Air. Scoot's fleet consists of A320s, A321s and 787s which allows the airline to serve both long-haul and short-haul destinations.

Scoot's Embraer E190-E2 jets will be able to seat 112 passengers in a single cabin configuration which will allow the airline to serve smaller destinations in the region that are currently unserved by both Singapore Airlines and Scoot. Scoot would be able to operate thinner routes such as Singapore(SIN) to Koh Samui(USM) in Thailand which was previously operated by Silk Air, another subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. Scoot and Singapore Airlines previously weren't able to operate this route due to the runway restrictions at Koh Samui Airport(USM).
